The act of drawing is simply making marks in response to what we see with our eyes or in our mind. It is multifaceted – ranging from a scribble to a complete work of art. Drawing can be accomplished in chalk, charcoal, pastel, ink, or paint. The most obvious way to express light, shade or form in drawing is through shading, grading tones from light to dark. You can add scribbled lines, or hatching or crosshatching methods. The closer the lines are together the darker the tones will be. By drawing more often, and experimenting, your work will improve and you will realise it can be great fun and rewarding.
