Loan boxes – Victorian

Object handling allows pupils to use all their senses and leads to a more memorable experience.

Our loan boxes are a great way to bring a subject to life and enhance classroom-based learning. Digital resources are provided alongside the loan boxes with background information on the artefacts and ideas on how to use them in the classroom.

The Victorian loan boxes contain a number of real artefacts including;
* Slates, pencils, a school copy book and some Victorian books,
* Clothing, clothes pegs and a darning mushroom,
* Victorian toys,
* Household items including a hot water bottle, coins, and pastry cutters.

We also have two videos that you will be provided with alongside the box for use in the classroom.  There is a video from our Victorian school room in which the children will be led through a lesson.  There is also an introductory mill tour video where the children will be told all about working life in the mill for children.
